Gardening & Landscaping at Carroll Lutheran Village
Our club was able to get together outdoors social distance style to help Carroll Lutheran Village keep valuable resources needed for PPE by providing labor to plant and mulch their gardens. We are happy to help the residents and staff find some relief in the beauty of their garden during the difficult 2020 seasons.
Monarch Butterfly Garden
A project inspired and headed by our club member Bill Kelly! We are talking with land owners around Westminster and Carroll County, and consulting with Master Gardeners as we aspire to create Monarch butterfly gardens in the area to help with annual migration.
The YMCA of Westminster is host of the first Monarch Butterfly Garden location, and on May 1, 2021 our members completed the build of four 6’x6′ gardens! As soon as additional milkweed and pollinator plants arrive we will announce a planting and dedication event.

Cervical Cancer Screening and Treatment for Tanzanian Women (CERTAN)
The Cervical Cancer Screening and Treatment for Tanzanian Women (CERTAN) project in the Mara region of Tanzania. The above slide show provides some information regarding the project that the Bonds Meadow Rotary Club is currently supporting. (2016-present) The most common form of cervical cancer starts with pre-cancerous changes and there are ways to stop this disease from developing. The first way is to find and treat pre-cancers before they become true cancers, and the second is to prevent the pre-cancers. The most important thing you can do to prevent cervical cancer is to be tested.
For more information regarding the background of this epidemic and why Rotary became involved in this project, you can read the Cervical Cancer Awareness among Women in Tanzania: An Analysis of Data from the 2011-12 Tanzania HIV and Malaria Indicators Survey here.
